Version History
Version 1.1, released 2026-07-02
Prolost Watches is now backed by an ever-growing database of watch specs, so filling out your watch’s data can be as simple as a single tap. You can now customize the color palette along with the layout, making Prolost Watches even more uniquely yours. New helpful tips guide you through the advanced features of the app.
- When you add or edit a watch, Prolost Watches now checks against a library of detailed watch specifications. If your watch isn’t listed, you can optionally contribute your specs and help grow the database for all.
- But data isn’t everything. Adding a watch now has a step-by-step flow that helps you understand what data matters and what can wait.
- Watch Feature tags have been expanded to individual selections for Movement Type, Dial, Bezel, and Crystal. More on that below.
- It’s not easy being (only) green. Customize the look and feel of the app in Settings → Color Palette.
- Tips! Helpful tips guide you through the features of the app.
- Nicknames! A place to put Arnie, Pepsi, and Turtle.
- Brands now features a Worn tab, to sort and compare brands by cumulative wrist time.
- Features expanded to individual selections for Movement Type, Dial, Bezel, and Crystal
- Brand autocomplete — when entering a new Brand, if we know about it, we help fill in the name and details.
- “Purchase” broadly renamed to “Acquisition” in response to a request by an international jewelry thief.
- “Sold” is now “Sold/Released” in response to a request by the thief’s victims.
- Relatedly, if a watch has a Sold/Released Date but no Sale Price, its status reads “Released”.
- You now have a choice of search engines in Settings.
- You can now select watch from the Cost Per Wear → Cost vs. Wrist Time chart.
- The app display name is now “PL Watches” to better fit on your Home Screen.
- Location access request is now part of the Welcome flow.
- Carousel now requires three or more watches.
- Carousel ring now has more pronounced dividers.
- “Diameter” is now “Diameter/Width”, and “Lug-to-Lug” is now “Lug-to-Lug/Height”.
- Improved order in Sort menu
- Watch “Link URL” is now “Website”.
- Recently Worn buttons are the same size. Whew.
- The Watch Details map preview better frames pins that span the globe.
- Setting watch purchase/acquisition location has better map search, and the option to drop a pin anywhere.
- When editing a watch entry, the “Save” checkmark only highlights when there are changes to save.
- It’s no longer possible to swipe away the Add/Edit Watch sheet, losing your work.
- Inaccurate helper text removed from Settings → Notifications.
- Fixed a bug where Recent Wear History could show “Today” when “Yesterday” would be correct.
- Freshness sort got an imperceptible accuracy update.
- The Events complication is now better at simply showing events as “Today.”
- Smoother transitions in Activity
- Welcome screens now behave with larger Accessibility text sizes.
- Manifest now renders consistently regardless of Accessibility text size.
- Wrist share chart no longer slides around on view change
- The Set Time clock could get stuck. It has been lubricated.
How to Update to the new Features/Movement Type/Dial/Bezel/Crystal System
With this update, some watch characteristics that were bundled under “Features” are now broken out into their own entries, with their own lists of options.
- You may want to update your existing watches to use these new fields, but you absolutely do not have to. The app will work just fine with no changes to your watches.
- The Status complication will gently nudge you to update the new fields over time, in the watches that matter most.
- If your watch is in the newly-added database, updating can be a single-tap operation.
The new fields:
- Movement Type (Automatic, Manual Wind, Quartz, etc.)
- Dial (Colors, materials, textures and treatments)
- Bezel (Color, style, materials)
- Crystal (Materials and features like cyclops, domed, AR Coated, etc.)
These join Type, Features, Case Materials, and Finish as customizable, editable lists.
If you have things like bezel and crystal materials already in Type, you can leave them there or remove them and add them to their new fields.
If you’d like to batch remove them, there is an easy way, but it’s a blunt instrument: Go to Settings → All Watches → Watch Metadata and choose Features. There you can either manually remove any entries like “Sapphire Crystal” that are superseded by the new fields, or scroll down and choose Reset to Defaults. This will automatically remove any Features that are obsoleted by the new lists, but it will also remove any custom Features you’ve added.
